{ The Secret Language Of Flowers }

You don't have to know me well to know that I am pretty much obsessed with flowers! Most recently I've been helping a bride finalize the color palette for her big day, which has proven to be somewhat of a challenge. So when I came across an article about what different color flowers symbolize in this month's Wedding Flowers magazine, I thought it would be fun to share . . .

BLUE is a very popular color. It is seen as trustworthy, dependable and committed. The color of the sky and ocean, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives.

GREEN is the color of nature, fertility and life. Grass-green is the most restful shade. Green symbolizes self-respect, well-being and balance and is a safe color that works in most settings and venues.

YELLOW shines with optimism, enlightenment and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future.

ORANGE is fun and flamboyant and radiates warmth and energy. Terracotta, peach and rust have a very broad appeal.

RED is the color of passion and commands attention. Using this shade as an accent color will immediately draw everyone's gaze to a particular decorative element.

PINK is youthful, fun and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red. Pink is the color of happiness and is often regarded as lighthearted.

WHITE projects purity, cleanliness and neutrality. It also indicates a fresh start, innocence and simplicity.

PURPLE balances the stimulation of red with the calm of blue. With mystical and royal connotations, purple is a color favored by creative or eccentric types.

Fun, right? I've always dreamed up the perfect wedding in my head using navy blue and white, maybe with an accent of chartreuse or a blush pink. Now I like those combos even more! What colors would you choose?

I'm picturing blue and yellow right now... don't know why - but it feels happy and right.
