NYC

In 3 short weeks my friend Kristin and I will be in New York for my birthday and I really want to see something on Broadway while I'm there. Since I'm not really a theater person I have NO CLUE what to see. The last (and only show I've ever seen) was Greece back in 1992. I'm pathetic! Does anyone have any recommendations for me? And please keep in mind that we plan on waiting in line the day of to get something cheap so the most popular shows like Wicked and Lion King will probably be sold out...unless anyone has a better idea. Leave any help in the comments section. Thanks!

Ok girlfriend, skip going to wicked in NYC and see it in LA!! The LA cast is PHENOMENAL, and you will not be disappointed. My mom saw Wicked in LA with me a few months ago, and saw it in London about a month later, and said it was BETTER in LA! I have heard the same thing about wicked in LA as compared to NYC - better in LA! I think if you can go to Mama Mia you should try that one - it is AMAZING! You'll have so much fun and be blown away by how energetic and thrilling it is! Les Miserables is a classic that everyone should see before they die, so is Phantom. Those are my suggestions. have fun!!! :)

Wicked is awesome but you can see it in LA. Phantom is a classic and it is really good and it shouldn't be too hard to get a ticket. You know what else is good that might not be too hard to get a good ticket is Thoroughly Modern Millie. It is really cute and light hearted. Jersey Boys is supposed to be fantastic, oh Hairspray! See that, ok HAIRSPRAY on stage is AWESOME!

Aubrey! I'm so glad you found me, what a nice surprise! You are STUNINGLY beautiful all grown up (as I knew you would be) and I totally laughed at your memory of my babysitting you. I remember that! lol I also remember playing "make-up" with you girls and Jacki going all out with the blue eyeshadow. ;)

It's so great to look through your pics, to see your family, and Jacki is married? I think I knew that, but wow---how is it that I still feel 16 and all you girls are grown up?!

Thanks for your sweet compliments and THANK YOU for not lurking and coming out and saying hi! It'll be so fun to read about you and get caught up. Please tell your folks hi!!

:)

Oh, and I just have to second what others have said about Wicked in LA. It's a fabulous cast there. I'm taking Spencer in 2 weeks! I'll have seen it three times in the last year here in LA. lol

Carrie saw Legally Blonde in NYC and one other one (can't remember now) but she loved Legally Blonde. Her husband fell asleep, but she (and the others she was with) LOVED it!

Have FUN!

I don't know what's on broadway right now. I really liked "whistle down the wind" not necessarily for the story, but for the music. the stories kind of anti-Christianity. But, amen to Phantom. and wicked is great in LA!
what about Mamma Mia? i've wanted to see that one for years.

legally blond was good, les miserable, sunset blvd, grease, don't go to spring awakening... Great music but not exactly the cleanest show. Go eat at rays pizza, and the food network tour and conan

Not sure if it's still there but we saw "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" and it was awesome. The music is good, the characters are funny... totally worth it. Loved it.
