ATTENTION ALL FEMALES:

You must read this book! For this month's San Clemente 5th Ward Book Club we read Dr. Laura Schlessinger's book "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands." Okay, now before you go laughing at us for reading a book we obviously have no business reading, hear me out. We will be married someday (power of positive thinking). Therefore, we need to know what to expect someday in that future marriage, and how to properly care for and feed that future husband, right? And, from our discussion tonight, I think it's actually helping me and others in our dating life. Yes Mom, I am working on it. Despite what many of you think, I am trying to give her grandchildren someday. Anyway, I loved the book! I thought it was a fabulous read and would highly recommend it to any and all women, married or single. I think it's full of wonderful counsel that, if applied, will lead you to a most successful marriage relationship. And after having listened to Dr. Laura on the AM radio for years, I rarely if ever, have heard her give ill advice. If you'll read this book with an open mind and a humble heart, you'll love it. It'll motivate you to be a better spouse, lover, partner, companion, listener, communicator, sympathizer...you get the picture. It's good. Read it.

I Love Dr. Laura! Troy asked Kev the other day "What is Dr. Laura's phone number?" Hopefully he doesn't call her and tell her I am an awful mother! There are a few things in her advice that I disagree with but overall, I love her. Thanks for the recomendation...I will check it out!

Aubs - this is hands down one of the best books for a married person to read. We have gotten so self absorbed in todays world, and this book is just what married women needed to hear! I read this book when it came out years ago...I highly recommend it as well!

wow! Love the comments people are sharing! I read this book when it first came out and gave it as a gift to Jacki when she got married. I agree that all married couples(and those preparing for marriage!) should read this book! It is hands down the best advice I have ever received in taking care of our husbands! I love mine and want him to know it everyday!!! You go girl! And do pass it on...

Love this book. I need to read it again. I would read it and giggle because I thought she was WAY off... then I'd read the passage to Christian and every time he'd say, "That's exactly right!" Who knew!?

Seriously this book is great. The best part is Chapter 14: "How to cook a delicious steak for your man and then don't talk the rest of the night."

Yeah...my sister E gave me that to read when I was 22; she loved it. I was at BYU that summer and I took it to the pool to read while laying out. When we were through, we packed up and left, and I forgot it underneath my chair! No big deal, right? I go back a couple of hours later, and some person (probably a bitter 19 year old chick who'd had her 2 week courtship-turned-engagement called off) had chucked the book in the pool, but not before ripping out an entire chapter page by page, crumpling THOSE up, and throwing THOSE into the pool too! I didn't know whether to laugh until I was blue in the face or be really ticked off that I owed my sis a new book. Dr. Laura is a genius though, and obviously provokes some strong reactions :).
