What a weekend!

I am definitely one to appreciate those quiet weekends when there's not much going on. I can sleep in as late as I want to, lounge around the house all day in my pjs, and eat pancakes til I'm sick. However, this was not one of those weekends!

It all started Friday after work when I met my friend Kristin for dinner at the cutest little cafe called Mustard's. We enjoyed salds and shared a panini. So yummy!

Then we raced over to the Fullerton stake center to reserve ourselves a seat to hear Elder Bednar speak. It was absolutely amazing. I went with some ideas of what he might speak to the young adults about, but I was pleasantly suprised when he opened up the 2 hour meeting into an intimate question and answer. I was too chicken to raise my hand to ask a question, but there were others asked that were similar to mine so I think I got some pretty great counsel.

After the fireside, we drove down to San Clemente to help Ryan Bunker celebrate his 30th Birthday. Geez Bunk...you're getting old. We still love you though!

Saturday morning I woke up early to pump myself up for the biggest game of the year...the San Clemente vs. Huntington Beach Powder Puff Football game, played by yours truly. I have never had so much fun at a ward sponsored event. And despite the huge upset (yes, we lost!) it was still so much fun. I'm pretty sure we're planning a re-match in the near future. Only, next time instead of middle linebacker, I think I'd like to be a receiever. (I got worked by those HB girls...they were pretty beastly!)

After the game I ran home to get cleaned up for a date to the John Mayer Concert. Now, I've never been all that excited about John Mayer. I like his music ok and some of his lyrics I can really relate to. But after his concert, I have come to really respect and rear John Mayer as one of the most talented musicians of today. I have never seen anyone play the guitar like that before. He puts on a GREAT live show. My favorite performance of the night was a cover of "Free Falling." Amazing! And just a little side note, I was pretty excited to be sitting directly behind Mathew Perry (Chandler from "Friends"). I totally wanted to talk to him but I didn't have the guts. Plus, I wasn't really sure what I would have said that wouldn't have made me sound like a complete retard. So, instead of talking to him, I waiting until he left and stole his leftover candy. Thats right! I ate Mathew Perry's gummi bears and M&Ms. So good! And kinda random, but did you know Mathew is missing the end of his middle finger on his right hand? Who knew?

Sunday wasn't any less eventful than the rest of the weekend. At church I was sustained as a member of the Activities Committee which I'm not gonna lie...really excited about. After the three hour block I had the opportunity to attend our annual Fari International Christmas work dinner at the Ritz Restaurant in Newport Beach. What an event! All the who's who and celebrities of Orange County came out for the event, flashing their billions in the form of 10k diamond rings, chanel dresses and all their plastic enhancements. The intimidation factor was at an all time high! But something unexpected happened at the end of the night. My boss Fari called on the 3 mormon kids that work for the company to come up to the front of the crowd and receive our holiday bonuses (a little embarassing!) But, and this may sound so silly, as I stood at the head of that crowd with Jason and Jeremiah, the spirit totally came over me and for a brief moment I thought about how all the people in that room with all their gold, jewels, fancy handbags, and enormous bank accounts, could not even hold a candle tothe kinds of "wealth" we had in our lives as members of the true and living church. I truly felt like a million bucks standing up there...I really can't describe it. It was awesome!!!

As the festivities ended and I watched all of our clients drive away in their Bentleys, Maybach's, and Rolls, I recalled the scripture in Mathew 6 thats says: "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." When I thought about it, I realized I am truly a rich girl! How lucky am I!
