What would you do?

A little over a year ago I met this guy…we’ll call him Matt for the sake of anonymity. So, Matt and I met at a friends house one night and we really hit it off. We started talked about what we did for work and realized we were in a similar industry. There was some definite flirting going on and from what I could gather, a mutual interest. Long story short, he got my number, asked me out for lunch, met me for sushi, enjoyed each other’s company, said our good-byes, and then…well…as usually goes with my dates, never heard from him again.

So, today at work, over a year later, I get this text message from this guy that says: “Hey its Matt. Do you still work for Fari? Have a question for you if you do.”

Ok, so my first thought was “Wow, random. I haven’t heard from him in forever. I wonder what he wants? I should text him back.”

Second thought, “Wait. Should I text him back? I mean, I haven’t heard from this guy in forever and then suddenly he’s gonna’ ask me for some kind of favor or something?”

Third thought, “I’m not texting that (insert your choice of evil man bashing word). He burned me! Now I’m gonna’ burn him.”

Fourth thought, “I better blog about this and see what you guys think before I make any rash decisions.”

So, what would you do?

Temper Tantrum

A few days ago I came home from work to find the February Ensign methodically placed on my accumulating pile of stuff in the kitchen. It was neatly folded open to an article titled "Dating and the Eternal Perspective." The first thing that came to my mind was "Mom, are you kidding me right now?" I'm embarrassed to even say this, but I was furious. I was so mad that this article had been placed on MY STUFF for ME to read, that I took it and chucked it across the counter. Funny thing is, when I threw it, the magazine flipped open to another article titled "Tempering our Tempers" or something like that. Coincidence? "I don't think so Tim."

Needless to say, I walked over to where the magazine had landed, politely picked it up and said "sorry" to my mother who had watched the entire tantrum unfold. I vowed that when I had some free time, I would read the article.

Well, my friends. I have been called to repentance. The article was wonderful. So wonderful that I'm including a link on my blog for you to find it and read it yourself...that is...if you're single and of dating age (just click on the title above). The article breaks down the stigmas of dating. One idea about how the world believes, and the other about what the Lord would have us believe. Its awesome. I hope you read it. You deserve some revelation today!
